What's everyone's favorite Corvair year? I really like the '64 for some reason and a friend of mine picked one up a few weeks back. That's how I found out about this site. Just wondering what years other people are into...
Re: Favorite Year
I'm partial to 65 only because that was my first one. They are all so cool!

Re: Favorite Year
Our first Corvair was a 1965 Monza coupe that I bought used in 1966 as a present for my wife who was a stay-at-home-mom (see didn't stay at home much after she got the Corvair). It was sold in 1968 to buy a new 1969. The '69 was a POS, but we still have it. The '65 was sadly missed, but came back home a couple of years ago for a full rotisserie restoration.
So, love the '65s, but not so much the '69s.

Re: Favorite Year
For EM I would have a tuff time choosing between the 61 and 64. Build quality was still up as it was the second year of production. 64 has some nice refinements.
For LM, I would also say 66.

Re: Favorite Year
I like the ones built in the '60's......
Actually my preference would be Late models but Early cars were my first exposure to the cars. I do like them all too.

Re: Favorite Year
I like the little details of the '63's the best. I think they have the best looking front trim, tail lights and interior trim.

Re: Favorite Year
Well prior to owning one I loved the styling of the LMs.
Now after being given a 66 Corsa, and having done bucketloads of research; I have to say I like the styling of them all. Each body style seems to have its own flavor so to speak. Kind of like comparing a 55 Chevy to a 56 or 57... completely different, but both are very cool.
Final Answer: of course the 66 coupes are my favorite!

Re: Favorite Year
Yeah, I hafta agree, Ira!.....my favorite EM's are '62's and '64's...although I DO like '63's!! Maybe it's easier to say which years I'm not too wild about, which would be '60's (not wild about that front end, but I DO like their weirdness on everything else) and '67~'69 (just because there's no corsas those years, no good gauges, and side marker lights suck, however I DO like those little bucket seats like the '69's have, and the fact that they have saginaw 4-speeds)
So basically, I'm just confused and don't have a real answer!.....just the tinyiest of details I may not like about certain years, but I DO really like them all!

Re: Favorite Year
I like them all. The LM's are what I choose to drive and concentrate on. 66 is my favorite! Since I build other cars and bikes it just helps me to keep with LM's because Most of the parts interchange and I don't have to have space for more parts.

I'm the opposite, I dig the side marker lights on the 68s and 69s...flat6_musik wrote:Yeah, I hafta agree, Ira!.....my favorite EM's are '62's and '64's...although I DO like '63's!!
