Post your solution to low cost FI!

Here's mine: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=212747

OK, so it's not a :chevy: ... But it still has air cooled content, and the same rules apply!

Finally got the 1227747 ECM worked out with the cold idle. I'll be the first to say its not perfect, but its so close it stinks. Still 100 times better than a carb on the best day in the best condition. I might be looking for the perfect Corvair and I just keep plugging away, but after 45K miles of driving this thing... it might be road worthy.

I started development of a new ECM for 94/95 Chevs and has about 16 times more processing power than the 7747 computer. Looking at getting the adapter plates made in the next couple of weeks and finishing up the little stuff. This new ECM can also be gotten at any pick and pull for about 30-40 bucks.

I don't know if you can ever make a true bolt on kit... but I'm trying to get close.

Guys have been doing the TBI swaps (and other FI swaps) for years with Jeeps, Scouts, etc.... There are some good junkyard swap links out there. I had all the TBI stuff to convert my AMC 360 to TBI, than I came across a TBI's 350 for less than it would cost me to rebuild the 360.

Hey Nick - didn't read the whole thread again (had before)...but I'm looking for a tip on a simple/slick solution for adding a fuel return fitting to the 'vair tank. Thinking I'll drop the sending unit/float assembly and braze one in there, or maybe just use a bulkhead fitting and piece of hose?

Use a Corsa/Spyder "T" that goes in the vent line for the tank. It's a stock return, availible at Clarks.

Awesome suggestion (duh, why didn't I think of that?). To be clear, that is a rubber tee - the part that connects the fuel filler to the tank - yes?

Yes, yes it is. I bought one when I had vapor lock issues as I was going to run a return line. I went with an electric pump and didn't use it. Saving it for the Spyder.
