H4 conversion/ and yellow foglight paints. Questions.

Post by Vanman »

So I got a killer deal on some H4 5.75" high/low conversion bulbs from JC Whittney, I was driving by and cant keep cruising, the van made me stop. I was wondering if anyone else has used a similar bulb on a FC? I fully intend on trying to install them, I just got them today and figured I would ask around first just to get a idea as to if they may work.

Which leads to the next question, I like the look of the high beams replaced with a fog light on a four light setup. I did some research a while back and found some "fog light paint". Has anyone here used any paints like that and if so what kind?

Thanks for any info.

They should fit with no issues at all. The only problem I see you running into is the same problem I had when I added the BMW headlights in my LM. That is the new low beams only have two connectors on them. The stock sealed beams had three. I don't know what your new lights look like so I don't know if this will be an issue or not. It wasn't hard to deal with. The only side effect was now it's either I have my low beams on or I have my high beams on. You can rewire it to work around this and I will eventually do that on my car.

As for the fog light paint. I have never used it, but if it says it's for that purpose, why not. I too like the "flamethrower" high beams. I have never seen anyone do it on and FC though. Should be cool. Post some pics when you do it so we can see.

Thanks for the info. Iv e always liked the fog look on cars. I want some French lenses for my bug. Way back when, the French ran yellow head lights. I will start a build thread here shortly and post up progress pics of the van, I'm still trying to finish the dash project, still have the wheel to paint.

Says simple curved surfaces. I just payed for some fog lights from Marco. Gave up looking of the lights elswhere, and the paint isnt cheap either and who knows if it works anyways.

Will do. Hope it looks as cool on the van as it does in my head. lol.

Should also be a good improvment over the stock lighting I hope. Im fighting myself to keep from jumping into this before I finish the steering wheel. Its in primer filler, and Im going to shoot some red on it in a bit tonight.

Personally, I wouldn't paint the lights. The heat from the bulbs and weather extremes make it likely the paint will flake off, and you'll need to do it again. Easier way is to use a filter, which comes in a plastic film you apply to the headlamp glass. It's durable, and won't flake. One of my buddies put it on the light of his GTI, it looked killer.
