Fuel Issue with Starting Engine/Idling

Post by rocky5686 »

Hey everyone.
Newbie here. I recently got this VW Beetle with a Corvair Engine.
I am having trouble with the fuel. Most times it will not start, but when it does, it will start, run for a few seconds and then die. It has a electric Facet Posi-Flo EFP3 fuel pump and a fuel regulator on it. The regulator is set at 4. I have played around with adjusting the regulator settings, but I still can't get it to run right. Like I said, sometimes it will start up when it's cold, but it will die after 15 seconds or so, then not start back up. Other times, it will not start at all. I am baffled... any help/suggestions appreciated.

You might have ignition issues, not necessarily fuel. If mine, I'd stand back at engine area and then crank it over (with a remote starter switch) and then just manually work that carb and get some RPMs up when it does start. Give it some good revs, and you may get a feel if it is actually running out of fuel or....whatever else.

A can of starting fluid will help you determine if it's starving for fuel too.
