Hello all! I’m resealing my differential and want to make sure I don’t miss one. Specifically, I’d like to know if there is a seal between the throw-out bearing shaft and the differential carrier itself. It looks like there’s some sealant around the shaft. Based on the rest of the car, I doubt that’s factory. Anyways, is this a common area for leaks?

Re: Differential Seals
Not common for leaks. The throw out bearing shaft is a press fit from inside the differential. A little sealant perhaps but no seal or gasket in this location except the input shaft seal inside the throw-out shaft. Make sure your input shaft is straight.

Re: Differential Seals
That sealer could be factory. It looks similar to what I've seen.
Don't forget the split support ring on top of the seal.
