Wheel studs
Wheel studs
I have axles that are drilled for 4 lug wheels, how hard would it be to drill for 5 lug wheels and open up new wheel opportunities? Also, does anyone have an old 5 stud brake drum they'd part with so I can use as a template to drill new holes?

I just did a 5 lug and disc conversion on my Spyder. Fronts were easy, I changed to a 66 spindle and used the drum brake hubs that were on my 72 Nova, (same as a late model hub). On the rears I knocked out the 4 studs and used the rotor from the front as a pattern to drill the axle flange, it fit the flange like a glove. Welded up one hole and marked and re-drilled the others took about an hour to do each axle. Here's some pictures. Jeff

Re: Wheel studs
No worries, just needed to know. You are about 130 miles from the Corvair ranch in Gettysburg, if you can't find one locally.

If you need some local Corvair help, you might check out the local club chapter of CORSA...Connrod wrote: » Wed Aug 12, 2020 12:47 am
