Powerglide Trans

I just had my powerglide rebuilt and it came back with no oil in it my question is how much oil does the trans hold?

Overall the Corvair Powerglide has established a good reputation for reliability. Its weak links are brought out by improper fluid levels, with leaks bringing on chronically low fluid levels resulting in internal clutch and band slippage and internal damage. High fluid levels can result in foaming and air entrainment caused by the planetary gear assembly spinning in a bath of transmission fluid.

Not all Powerglide dipsticks are the same length. When the Corvair body style changed in 1965, the dipstick tube and matching dipstick had to be lengthened to match the new body shape and dimensions. Over the years it might be possible that the incorrect dipstick made its way into the wrong model year. Here are guidelines to verify that you have the correct dipstick in your Corvair...
