1963 Power Convertible Top Issue
1963 Power Convertible Top Issue
Hello all. I'm having a problem with one side of my convertible top. When raising the passenger side rail appears to lag way behind the driver side. It lags so much that it damaged the armrest while raising which I'm assuming was caused by being cockeyed. This is my first convertible in many years so I really don't know the first thing on how to diagnose the power issue. I'm also looking for any documentation on the convertible top since I don't see anything in the 1961 manual or the 1962 supplemental. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 1963 Power Convertible Top Issue
there is a pretty extensive Convertible top section in the 64 supplement. It starts on page 10-25. https://www.corvair.org/chapters/corvan ... ody-64.pdf Could be an issue with one of your hydraulic top lift cylinders. How is the fluid level? If it is low I would fill it and then see how it operates and look for leaks as well. Filling instructions are on page 10-50
Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.

Thank you very much for the info. Do you know of any common problems with these tops that I should look out for?
