Front pump and TV pressures

Post by albjerryg »

I wanted to check the front pump and throttle valve pressures on my 1966 Corvair with automatic transmission. I am not sure where the ports are located to check the psi. Is it in the rear toward the front of the car or where. I have enclosed a picture of the rear, Thanks for any help. Jerry

That is the front pump. All the bolts with the slots hold things together. The outer ones hold the pump to the case and the inner ones hold the pump halves together. There should be some pipe plugs to check pressure.
What is yours doing?

I have attached a Corvair Powerglide maintenance manual: Corvair Powerglide Automatic Transmission Service Guide. I had to divide it into 5 parts to make the files sizes small enough to upload to the Corvair Forum website. I believe the information you asked for can be found in Corvair Powerglide Automatic Transmission Service Guide - PART 5 OF 5, page 43-L (Adobe Reader page 7 of 10 in that section). I have shown that page below...

The information is also available on page 7-54 — 7-55 of the attached 1965 Corvair Chassis Shop Manual - SECTION 7 - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

The link below will provide you with a list of useful websites that are Corvair-related. Some of the links will lead you to an extensive technical library that will allow you to download shop manuals and other technical references in Adobe Reader format at no cost. There is also a link that will help you to locate nearby CORSA (Corvair Society of America) club chapters. You will also find a list of essential Corvair parts suppliers. Clark's Corvair Parts in Shelburne Falls, MA is the biggest and oldest Corvair supplier in the world. You will find a link that can provide you with a series of videos that amount to a tour of the Clark's Corvair Parts facilities. Parts suppliers such as this truly make our Corvair hobby possible.

I thanks you for the information I have look at it but still don't know where the 2 ports are for checking the pressure. I assume you do not have to take anything apart to assess the ports???? Thanks Jerry

I'm pretty sure it is 1/8 NPT.
