Tie rod adjusting sleeve

Had to buy one in a hurry from Auto Zone. Manufactured with steel $75. Decided to go ahead and replace the other sleeve and both outer tie rod ends after emergency repair So I ordered them from Clark’s l. Clark’s sleeve is cast iron and $26 with clamps. Hope the cast iron is OK

I'll bet theirs is steel also. I've never seen a cast iron tie rod sleeve.
I just checked their site and it says steel.

It sure appears to be cast. The surface is rough compared to the AZ sleeve which is definitely steel and has a smooth surface.

I do not think they are cast. They do look like they have been blasted with some fine surface texture.

Amazed that AZ had 'em, that's a win! I have a front end rebuild on my "to-do" list, been looking around. Tie rod sleeve, clamps & bolts are $20 at http://californiacorvairparts.com/index ... er=product

erco, local parts store may have the front end parts you need. GM seemed to use the same steering design for years on all their cars and I think many of those parts were interchangeable........probably expensive however. The sleeve I needed was not in their store, but they had it for me the next day along with distributor cap and rotor!
