Gas Tank Removal 61 Wagon

Post by Storm »

Well I have been looking over the posts on how to do this job, so I figured I just go outside & try it.

The Corvair is a 61 Lakewood 3Spd.

I took the strap off, one side broke, other side I cheated & got it to slide out of the retaining bit.

The ground was snapped already & I cheated again & cut the rubber line so I could drop the tank with the unit inside. The filler neck was pushed in with the 2x4 method (thanks Dave) & I can't seem to get it past the cross member.

Does it just take a lot of wiggling? Should I attempt to tank the filler neck off to make it move easier?

Any advice would be helpful at this point!

Thanks

Kyle

Good news, took a lot of wiggling, but it has been released and out of the car.

Yup. You need to hold your mouth just right on these:)
