Chevy Bowtie Mirrors

Post by rustbelt »

Hello gang, I have a question re: my side mirrors.
They are tight to the car body, but the mirrors are loose, in terms of every time the door is closed the mirror alignment is moved and I have to roll the window down to reset the site line.
Any way to tighten the 'ball'?
Was thinking of using some lock tight or something that might help.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

You can glue them in place. There is also an article in the CORSA Tech Guide vol.2 on repairing them but its pretty involved. Personally I would glue them or buy new ones.

Mine were so loose that driving along I would check my mirror and only see the ground. I pulled the snap ring that holds the mirror in and found that the friction is provided by a plate with a piece of nylon/plastic held in place by a piece of metal riveted to the mirror housing. My plastic was all smushed (a technical term) out. I bought new mirrors...it was easier and they look better than the old ones that were showing their age.
