Re: 65 vs 66 4 speed
I have a 66 4-speed in my 65 Corsa. I didn’t install it but it obviously fits.

No. It is not a bolt in swap.
Yes. It can be made to work.

Re: 65 vs 66 4 speed
You need to correct front mounting crossmember as they are different. The 66 has 6 mounting bolts to the diff the 65 has only 4. Oil pass thrus between diff and trans are not identical either. Best way to do this is to swap 65 and 66 4 speed transaxles not just transmission although there are work arounds for using just the 66 trans with the 65 diff.

Re: 65 vs 66 4 speed
The 66 trans will not mate to a 65 Diff, not only is the front trans cross member different (3 vs 4 holes) and the bolt pattern different between the diif and trans (4 vs 6 holes) as Ted says, the input shaft is different on the 66 trans and it wont physically fit when bolting to a 65 diff, best to bolt in a complete 66 trans axle (66 diff and transmission) once that is done you will need the 66 drive shaft U-Joint retainers and bolts as the 66 diff uses bigger bolts, you will also need to shorten the shift rod as the 66 trans is longer and use the shorter 66 (Ball Type) shift tube stabilizing rod, and you will need to shorten the clutch cable adjustable end as it will now hit the trans and not let the clutch work, other than that its a piece of cake!
Re: 65 vs 66 4 speed
Ahh, based on what Ted and Dave related, I'm glad I didn't do this conversion. I believe a previous owner swapped the turbo engine, diff and 4 speed trans from a wrecked 66 Corsa into his 65 Corsa - that I eventually ended up owning...
