I used the checksheet in Bob Helts book, the Classic Corvair, and personalized it to what I could see me doing. I'd like some constructive ideas in making it better. Caveat I'm a builder of motorcycles engines/components, have been passionate about corvairs since I was little, (Dad raced them in the 60's). Even though I have accumulated many engines for experimenting with, I haven't built any, but have taken a few years to acquire parts, and gleaned the information out of the books/manuals.
I will be building 2 engines, 1 turbo engine for my 64 convertible, and 1 for my 61 loadside. The turbo engine, I will use the coatings on the case, bearing surfaces, pistons, etc, so that is why the specialty coating blocks are included. Thanks in your help for making this wonderful hobby interesting and fun....Todd

P.S. Attached is the word document that I built the checksheet on.

bmwtodd - nice work, good detail and order.

suggestions:

engine case and heads - was deflashing done?

on piston rings, I like to know what the ring widths are

maybe a note to check to see that the rocker arm studs are not bottoming out when torqued. if the head gasket area has been surface a lot the possibility it's possible for the stud to bottom out when torquing the head.

compression ratio calculation with head cc and head gasket thickness

spark plug brand and model

again, nice work thanks for your effort
