Turn signal arm
Turn signal arm
I have 1 each 65 and 66 Corsa without telescopic steering. Does anyone have a source for the correct replacement or NOS turn signal arm? I have 2 new ones that Clarks lost as a will-fit replacement, but they are for a telescopic wheel and are too short and at the wrong angle to be able to reach in regular driving. I am looking for the original type.

YES THERE IS A CORRECT REPLACEMENT --- As you stated there is NO correct lever for the 65 and 66 Corvair with a standard steering wheel from the vendors. I checked with several GM vendors and they ALL carry the same short lever that is too far back from the wheel rim (wrong angle).skipvair wrote: ↑Sun Apr 08, 2018 6:15 pm I have 1 each 65 and 66 Corsa without telescopic steering. A while back I asked Roger Parent if he could make one in stainless (Roger makes the fantastic carburetor linkage). He got around to it, but he has a difficult time getting the original knobs. I got two for my cars and compared to the old original rusty lever they were the correct length, angle, and knob. I was very pleased with the product.
Granted Roger's reproductions are not chrome plated like the originals (and it was a cheap plating on bare steel), but they look just like chrome and WON'T rust.
I'm not sure if Roger posts here. Go to the Corvaircenter forum and find handle rlp11 and send him a private message. If you have any problems send me a PM here.

Brad - No that is NOT the correct lever. Same one Clark's and everyone else sells and it works, but is too short.

I am still trying to figure this out as well. See attached picture. Can anyone identify the different lengths and angles for the 65-66 ones pictured. I know about the 67-68 ones.

There are many products out there to make stainless shine like chrome.

Re: Turn signal arm
O.K. I guess I wasn't clear. GM used a few different turn signal lever configurations. I've checked out a few vendors and while knobs vary depending on GM vehicle I have ONLY FOUND ONE TYPE OF LEVER THAT DOES NOT WORK WELL WITH THE 65-66 STANDARD STEERING WHEEL. It's better than nothing but a pain to use as it's too short and too far from the steering wheel. Apparently only the one style of lever is reproduced now, just different knobs put on it.
When Roger Parent asked for input on making a new stainless steel part I asked if he could make the 65-66 Corvair turn signal lever. He got a good response on the corvaircenter forum and now makes them. His lever IS correct, just in stainless instead of chrome plated steel (his stainless looks just like chrome). BTW - Roger makes Corvair turn levers for ALL the years.

Go and contact Roger. He's just a part time hobby guy so his main job takes precedence, but he does eventually get things done and his workmanship is excellent.
