That so called fresh air vent doesn't have any effect on the cooling of the engine is what i'm saying, when you open the air vent it's the same as having the hose off. :banghead: I drive my car all winter & once the interior is warm I turn the fan off & open the air vent to blow more air in & it stays hot in the car without running the fan.

The key here is have the fresh air system complete not just wide open. If the hose is not in place air from under the top cover can come out and recirculate rather than going down thru the heads likely adding to engine heating. If the fresh air part of the system is in good shape, no air recirculates only some (if selected) can go to the interior, but, this flow is either off or limited by the hoses and the heater box.
