1964 95hp donor parts in 110hp engine

Post by Dobber1234 »

I bought a 1964 110 hp engine in pieces. I have an opportunity to buy a 1964 95 hp engine for donor parts. What parts are interchangeable? Is it ther same with different Cam and Heads? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The cylinder heads are different with the low horsepower engine having a cylinder head combustion chamber volume that produces an 8.0:1 compression ratio. The 110 hp engine heads have a combustion chamber volume that produces a 9.0:1 compression ratio. Both engines use the same crankshaft, engine cases, pistons and connecting rods to produce 164 CI displacement. The 110 hp and 150 hp engines are fitted with a harmonic balancer to protect the crankshaft from developing stress fractures or cracks. As an economy move, the low 95 hp engine only received a solid cast crankshaft pulley instead of a harmonic balancer. The distributor timing and advance curves were different. Both the 95 hp and 110 hp engines had the same single muffler exhaust, and I believe that the carburetors and air cleaner assembly/PCV systems were the same. The oil cooler was larger on the 110 hp engine.

I have attached a copy of the 1964 Chevrolet Corvair GM Heritage Center Specs publication, which provides details of the engine specifications.
