Fuel controller

Post by gnrand »

I finally installed a fuel controller on my electric fuel pump. It works off the tach coil signal. So if your engine stops with the key on, the pump also stops. When you first turn on the key, the fuel pump primes for 3 seconds then shuts off until a tach signal is recognized. Easy to install and very compact. It comes from Revolution Electronics. www.revolutionelectronics.com

Nice product for those wanting to do a safer swap from mechanical to electrical!

I love stuff like this. Theres a site for electronic components for my Yamaha dual sport that is similar. Just simple small electrical parts that work well.

Do you know what pressure it puts out? On some old cars - like old Fords with Stromberg carbs - if the pressure is a little too high it overpowers the needle and seat.

This device only controls the electric fuel pump, it has nothing to do with the pump pressure.

I have one too, great way to convert to an electric pump without all the oil pressure and inertia switch wiring. Retains the stock engine bay look as you don't need the oil pressure sensor, etc.

I used Ray Sedman's controller on both my coupe and vert. It also uses the tach signal but doesn't have the auto prime. That's a nice feature! I put in a 3 position switch. That way I can keep it off, on or momentary to prime. I put the switch under the dash for anti theft when in the off position since the fuel pump won't run.Image

I have sedman's unit as well and it does auto prime for about 2 seconds when you turn the ignition key to the on position but mine is also wired the way the instructions say to.

Rays was my first choice but I have been waiting for a few months after he said he needs to assemble them.

Actually Ray suggested wiring it the way I did it. Didn't realize it auto primed for 2 seconds. Never heard it. I think Ray had me wire in the prime switch because when sitting for several months a couple seconds probably would not be enough. The switch is also a good theft deterant.

Same here. I have been unable to get a response from him for months. I have done business w/ him in the past so he knows who I am. I think he's too busy for Corvair stuff over the past year.
