Case bolts

Post by plmbcrzy »

Finished disassembling the engine. When the case bolts came out they had silicone at each end. Did the factory do this or has my block been split before?

No sealer of any kind anywhere on case bolts. Block has been split.

No sealer from the factory. Some say the bolts can weep oil and use sealer.
I know of one fellow who countersinked the holes and installed "O" rings.
Most don't seal the bolts.

The top cover and pushrod tubes are far more likely to be a source of oil leaking.
