Carburetor color

Post by Jerry Whitt »

Seems like there is a special color paint or dye use to color the tops of Corvair carburetors. Where can I obtain this?

Eastwood has always been a great source for specialty paints. Good luck.

These VHT anodized color coat paints' unique transparent coating creates an anodized effect over properly prepared chrome, shiny bare metal, and faux chrome-like surfaces for a spectacular metallic finish. They are formulated for high-temperature and high performance engine paint applications and can withstand intermittent temperatures of up to 550 degrees F.

I have used the eastwood "gold" paint on my carbs. They don't look too bad. I like it. It does not look anodized but I think they look better than raw aluminum. Make sure you prep them properly.
