'64 Spyder exhaust shield ?

Post by AZScott »

A question for someone familiar with a ’64 Spyder exhaust setup. In looking at the assembly manual instructions I can’t find any reference to a shield between the valve cover on the passenger side and the muffler. The shield was missing on the car as I bought it. I am using Otto alum valve covers, but it still looks like there is enough room to install one. So my question, is this something that was omitted or not needed on the turbo? I do plan to run this car in the Arizona heat so I want to include anything that would help with the cooling. Thanks.

I put one on my '63 Spyder. Not in the books but only takes minutes to apply and doesn't get in the way of anything. Makes sense, I would do it.

Leverone, thanks. appreciate the comment. With the lack of replys, I take it the shield was not a factory installed part. With plans to run this car in the Arizona climate I am trying to do things to assist with cooling the engine.
