How to fix a sticky accelerator petal? Please help

My accelerator petal seams to be sticky it doesn't go in one fluid motion it gets stuck half way. Please help

Rust is usually the problem, I circled the area that needs cleaning/derusting. You need to remove the cover under the carpet. You might get by with some WD-40 or PB-Blaster but it should be taken apart, cleaned good and see what condition the plastic bushings are in. Can also be sticky at there rear pivot located under the floor under the left side of the rear seat, a more common issue in late models, but, it is a good idea to remove the rear tunnel pan and inspect the linkages there to verify condition as a sticking accelerator is not a good thing.
Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.
Currently working full time repairing Corvairs and restoring old cars.

I just did this a couple weeks ago. It's daily easy, and as posted most likely at the pedal. Take the tunnel cover off and inspect all pivots, then disconnect the linkage at the pedal and try moving it by hand. You will find the stuck part that way.

I have also had the throttle sick on a spark plug boot.
