Exhaust Valve Questions

I was just looking inside the exhaust chambers for my 1964 110 hp head and it looks like a kink in the exhaust side! Has anyone ever milled that groove off down near to the guides because I don't know how the exhaust can get through there? It's like a 90 degree turn.

Typically I will use use cutters on a die grinder and do a bowl blend as well as taper the area around the guide down. The flow picks up significantly when you do that.

Have you ever ground it down all the way to just enough material for the guide?
