Better MPG RAMPSIDE with '64 110hp engine

I have a '62 Rampside automatic, with a '64 car 110hp engine. I bought it this way. The Rampside is presently at a great east coast shop. The Rampside was originally a manual. The engine blows oil on startup. I'd like to upgrade it to EFI and Electronic Ignition. Any suggestions for " modernizing" and modifying the drivetrain for this setup? ie change gear ratios to get better MPG?
