I think it is from the transmission mount. It needs to be replaced, anyone know where I can get one?

Everything corvair is standard, so probably homedepot. If not, fastenal or McMaster Carr.

If it is from the transmission mount, remove one of the other bolts and use it to check the threads in the hole, you may need to get a helicoil or drill and tap the hole for the next larger size.

The smooth small diameter end is a self centering function.

If you look at the bolt cap you should see the "Grade" marks. I suspect the bolt will be grade 5 or grade 8 - DO NOT use a cheap hardware ungraded bolt.

Yes the bolt hole threads probably need to be cleaned up with a tap. If lucky that will work - if not the hole can be repaired.

I should have provided more details. I removed the drive train in my 64 Monza to get my differential and transmission rebuilt and I noticed this when I was cleaning all the hardware. It is a grade 8 bolt, and the smooth tip makes me wonder.
