In other news, while waiting for my pp to get here, I had my machinist buddy spin a cut on the old pp.
Here's what we have:
Would you risk it?
I'm not going to but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Got the new one! Fits right! And look at that it even looks new... not like the previous one that had rust all over it.

Your machinist buddy should have know that "Spinning a cut" on the old pp was not the correct process. You're never able to turn out the hard spots. They need to be ground, if not too heat checked , which this one is. Glad you received your replacement.

Thanks man. He's not an engine machinist or anything like that so he wouldn't know. I wasn't sure how bad those hard spots would be. That's the whole reason I wanted to take it down a little to see how it looked.Wagon Master wrote:Your machinist buddy should have know that "Spinning a cut" on the old pp was not the correct process. Back together. Misplaced a fuel fitting and it's driving me nuts trying to find it. So I haven't run it yet.
In other news, one problem (hopefully) down and another arises.
I daily ride a 77 cb550k and I think the timing chain tensioner just let go. Engine sounds like a buzz saw. Yay.
