Tach repair - sources
Looking for a repair shop (source) that could fix a defective, non working factory (Corsa) tach, anyone have any sources/experiences?
Re: Tach repair - sources
SEARCH here and at other forum - Topic comes up often. Myself and others have commented a few times here.
I've repaired some for friends, but I will NOT do anymore - just too time consuming to calibrate them. A few others that did them seem to have quit also. The meter adjustment is tedious and one slip and you destroy the unit. If the meter armature has failed then there are no new parts. The electronics is easy to fix and adjust the gain. Getting the meter to read accurately and linear can take many hours of tedious work.
BTW - The term "repair" can mean different things. Just getting the needle to move is one thing - getting an accurate reading is another.

The Corvair Ranch repairs and calibrates Corvair tachs. They have a good selection of spare parts including the correct replacement germanium transistor, should it be needed.
