Shroud Questions

Unread post by jmikulec » Sat May 13, 2017 10:53 am

65 Monza coupe--
Where do I put these shroud pieces? I forgot where they go and how their orientation should be? Also, I have looked at the thermostat coils for the lower shrouds. One is all coiled up while the other is fully expanded?ImageImage

Top two go over the rear engine support bracket after the engine is all-installed. Skinny one goes in first and should have j-clips on the center two holes.

Bottom left goes behind the distributor, rotated 90 degrees from as shown- (fairly early in the process)
Bottom right goes behind the oil cooler, rotated 90 degrees from as shown (fairly early in the process, certainly before oil cooler)

'60 Monza PG coupe (sold, sniff, sniff)
'66 Corsa Fitch Sprint Conv. (First car 1971, recently repurchased)

The expanded thermostat has failed and should be replaced. Clark's C50RM or a good used or NOS is better if you can find one.

I found some thermostats online and they're for a 62 corvair. Should they fit on my 65 if I put the shorter linkages on it. The 62 is longer?Image

the thermostats themselves are the same. The thermostats in this photo are Reproductions check Clark's new price before paying too much for used repros.

That's why I wanted these because they're both costing as much as just one on Clarks

Any GM ones are a better choice...if you can find them. The repros do not last a long time.

Picture of where the tins go. Better picture in the service manual.
