Engine Case Plugs

Hi all from sunny New Zealand,

Can anyone tell me what these plugs are for??

it a universal block. gm parts supply to fit all engines. kind of rare part you have there. in NZ no less!

the big plug is for the wagon & truck oil check/oil fill tube.
the small plug is the oil temp sensor - 1960/61 engines.

I think Scott explained it all. Check the block number and post the two digit alpha suffix and we can tell you what it's from. It could be a universal replacement block, or a block from and FC/wagon.

The FC/wagon blocks are not as common. They allowed a low dipstick filler tube that could be accessed by opening a rear panel since the engine in a FC/wagon is covered by a lid.

Thank you guys. The engine is marked with a double x, I guess making it a universal replacement case. I'm not too sure where it came from, but it will form the basis of my Spyder engine. Non turbo of course.

Yes - X's mean it's a factory replacement block.
