1968 140 Fuel line

I was replacing the gas tank and noticed a small gas return line that comes off the carburetor tee in the engine compartment and is routed back to fill tube near the gas tank. Is this a pressure bleed off line?

...The way the smog engines (67-69)were done was to sub a cross in place of the Tee that supplied the Carbs. The extra outlet on the opp side of the Fuel pump inlet is bored and tapped for 3/16" flared tubing (you can use Brake line) That line is routed out of the Engine bay at the same place as the fuel inlet. The line continues thru the tunnel to the gas tank filler hose.

Clark's sells the crosses for about $20.00. That setup helps with excessive fuel pressure, helps with vapor lock and helps with "hot soak".

Thank you for the explanation. I am converting over to an electric fuel pump along with the new gas tank and noticed the extra fuel line.
