Painting gear selector

Unread post by Lunar_Camel » Sat Jul 11, 2015 6:34 am

I have several dashes that I'm putting together into one good dash (no cracks, unclouded lenses, etc).

I have a gear selector/indicator (not sure of the correct name) that is not broken, but the paint/chrome is all but worn off the front.

What can I use to restore it? Paint it? Re-chrome? Any suggestions.

Enamel might be your best bet. Its a high traffic lever so you might want to put a few coats

I used chrome tape. Buffed/burned the tape off of the letters with a mototool buffing wheel.

Did you find a good paint/method to restore the gear indicator? The letters have to be translucent for backlighting, correct?
