Hello, I am starting a restoration project on a 1964 spyder and the turbo needs to be rebuilt. I was thinking about sending it off to Clarks for a rebuild but I see they have a kit for this. Has anyone done this - is it worth trying or should I just send it to the experts? They say send them the carburetor also. How much do I take off the engine? Should it be everything from the turbine housing through the carb and leave the air filter?
Thanks,
Ian

I would suggest clicking on the following link and then contacting "miniman82" in Norfolk, VA. He is something of a resident turbocharger expert here on the Corvair Forum, and has established a pretty solid reputation. Send him a Private Message (PM) and he should be able to answer your questions and help you with a turbocharger overhaul, sorting out your carburetor questions, etc.

Shameless plug...
What's wrong, is it leaking or something?
