As I get closer to driving my Rampside after many years of bring it back to life, I know the front end needs a complete rebuild. While all the parts are available from Clark's, etc. since the front-end is basically an early C10 (as I have been told), has anyone done a rebuild with tubular control arms?
I am just looking for options over the stock components. Keep in mind that this is not a factory stock, purist FC restore. I rescued this thing from a field where it sat for 15 years. I just want it to be reliable and safe. I want to enjoy it since it has been over 5 years since we pulled it out of the mud. Plus, the wife is anxious for me to get it on the road so she can tool around in it.
Thanks,
Rory

Re: Upper and Lower Control Arms FC
I’ve always heard that the FC front control arms were the same as used in the Impala/ Bel Air of the same era. I’ve also thought of using the tubular control arms with drop spindles but my budget can’t afford that so will stick with what’s working for now. Interested to follow this thread to find out what others have to say. If money were no object I would purchase one of the kits and give it a try as long as it’s returnable. Seems like a reasonable approach if the originals are rusty or have other issues.
If you need to replace the springs, Ken Hands front springs that he has had made for FC’s is absolutely the way to go. Much better stance and ride over original FC springs. Good luck with your project.

Re: Upper and Lower Control Arms FC
I have installed the Tri 5 front disk setup from Summit (or?) a while back so I agree with the Impala/Belair reference. I would take the leap but I am not sure that a vendor would take back the kit once it was installed. Going stock is not an issue for me but it would be nice to modernize the Rampy if possible.
