Good idea Rex. In fact sometimes the vacuum pull off unit doesn't work AND the choke linkage is stuck that effectively won't open the choke on on one side of the engine that reduces power. Also a bad unit can become a vacuum leak! Easy to overlook. Yet I have found a few bad units.RexJohnson wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 10:27 am If one side isn't working the choke on that side usually won't open because of lack of heat. A good thing to check if you have single exhaust and can't hear what is happening.

Choke Pull Off test. 1. Unplug the rubber hose from the base of the carburetor (I would say unplug the hose from the choke pull off, but sometimes they stick and you break the choke pull off [comes apart, can be 50% put back together])
2. push in on choke pull off link, hold.
3. put finger over open end of hose, release hold on link.
4. If link moves, choke pull off is bad. If link stays put, it is good.
