Looks like you have a project on your hands, good luck. If you need any advice, help, pictures, etc. just let me know as I also have a '66 Monza.

Looks like the condition mine is in pretty much. Seems a little overwhelming, but I'm just doing one little thing at a time. Good luck!

Thanks i'm sure i will have a few q's about the motor. This has not ran in some time. Thinking of rebuilding it.91blaze wrote:Looks like you have a project on your hands, good luck. If you need any advice, help, pictures, etc. just let me know as I also have a '66 Monza.
Overwhelming? Na ... More excitement. There really isn't a lot to them when you compare to newer cars ( 80's to now). Good luck on yours as well!!County98 wrote:Looks like the condition mine is in pretty much. Seems a little overwhelming, but I'm just doing one little thing at a time. Good luck!

Moved the Monza today and was stung by a wasp on the left middle finger knuckle . Hand still swollen but i won the battle with wasp spray ! Popped the trunk to find 3 spares and the hub caps, took out the front lights and some trim. Also found out that the floor below the back seat is all but gone . Oddly i checked the oil and tranny fluids and they were perfect like it was recently done. Which it hasn't. That is a heavy car!!
Re: 66 Monza Project
Got the tail lights out and trim off ( i know it's still on in the pic) and a can of wasp spray that i keep in the car for when working on it
Back floor board Front drivers side Under back seat
Also tore out the interior to assess the damaged spots. Back floor board Front drivers side Under back seat
Re: 66 Monza Project
Shots of the engine after dismantling the shroud i guess.
Right side a mouse had stuffed with cotton from the seats. I found his skeleton as well

Finally have the monza in a barn to work on it. front and back windows are out, pulled the carbs off to rebuild, and started sanding it. Now doing 2 days a week. What did i get myself into... Edit: Also found out that the drums were redone and the tranny rebuilt SCORE!!!

You have lots of work ahead!!!!! Save some money, use windex on the Wasps. It kills them fast, works great on Flies too but don't kill the Bee's we need them. Good luck on your project, looks like about $5,000 & you'll be on the road.

Re: 66 Monza Project
Looks good! Long way to go for both of us, but fun just to mess around with it.
Re: 66 Monza Project
It has been a while since i posted and have not been out to work on the monza, but might give a thought into swapping the body over to an S-10 frame and putting a 4.3 in it. Does anyone know what specific year S10 frame to use (if there is one) ? Also anyone have a thread on it?
