Jason's 1960

Post by corvair1960 »

Here is my 1960. She is an early build built August of 1959 VIN 1819. I have the optional gas heater, folding rear seat, 80 HP powerglide. just had her painted last year. Working on the interior as I enjoy driving her. Gets many looks wherever she goes!

You have a good looking '60 there.

The Gas heater was a standard feature on all 1960 Corvair models and after that was an option on all early cars through '64. It was also optional on the vans through 1965.

As I recall the heater when operating consumed in the area of one gallon of fuel per hour. I know they worked very well.

My guess is that economics were the reason G.M. went with the system we all know and endure as standard equipment for the rest of the later vehicles they built. :dontknow:

Enjoy it. :tu:

Thanks All! Will post some more pics when I get her RUNNING again. She hates being worked on. Everytime I do work on her she puts up a fight starting until I redo everything. Might do a repower with a 64 110 if I can find a good running one locally and cheap! New job means less money! Can't fight with the 60 choke no more. I spend more time fixing it than i do driving!
