Our first Corvair
Our first Corvair
My wife and I got this 1961 Monza on Craigslist for free. Now I am comepletly new to the Corvair scene and am learning as I go. A freind of ours named Mike is helping us out on the restoring and lucky for us, he knows all about the Corvairs! He managed to get it started, but if you knew Mike, he can get just about anything started. It ran great for awhile but then it started to smoke. He is going to change out all the gaskets in the motor and rebuld the carbs. This 61 came with a 110 engine which Mike was surprised to see in it. We plan on getting it running and fixing it as we drive it. We will end up doing a complete restore from top to bottom later on but for now we just want to be able to drive it around. It will be my wifes getting around car for now. We have'nt even gotten this project going and my wife is allready talking about getting me a Greebrire ! So looks like i'll be busy for awhile.
