Re: 65 Corsa by barrist
OK, I think I've finally lost it...............
Here goes my TRY.
I pretty sure the screws are not suppose to show. Tight as a drum, and still looks 1/2 inch short. Anyone have a picture?
Most of the old top off...............
And a whole lot of dirt.............
I had hoped to get more done today. Life got in the way !

Re: 65 Corsa by barrist
Just a guess here...........
Replacing a corvair top, in 8 hours must be with a 2 year old corvair?
I've been running into some clean-up before getting much work done.
Still so far, I'M Tired Of Pulling Staples!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting there, more updates soon.

Re: 65 Corsa by barrist
Well, this was day 3, and still much to do.
Finished some more paint, and glued in spacers.
Back window came out fair, only 2 attempts.
And just started with top. this may take awhile............
Hopfully get some more done next weekend.

O K, Update It Can Be DONE !!
A couple of small wrinkles in the right sail, came out well with steam.
I do believe the instructions could have been written better.
But I think it came out OK.
It really was NOT a lot of fun, but here are the reasons that I tried it.
After check with the upholsterer, I was quoted a price for a new top, pads and well. That was it, those parts, and labor.
Quick look at Clark's, and I added all the seals, cables, boot, and boot bag. After buying a stapler, I still saved $700. That made-up my mind.
Finished it, then squared the doors up, and added the steering wheel that I took off the Buggy.
All-in-all a pretty good day.

Re: 65 Corsa by barrist
I had two problems, First was that I "scratched" the top on the right sail, the trim was removed and caught on the body.
Anyone know of a REPAIR? not really that noticeable, just really pissed me off.
The Second, was the front of the top,. How and where to attach and finish.
Took me a full Day to make sense of it. No picture right now, I'll post one later.
Thanks again for the advice.

Re: 65 Corsa by barrist
Thanks Jeremy (cad-kid),
This is how the front edge came out.
Still not sure if its correct, but no staples, and don't look like it will leak.
Out for a short ride.................
I think I like her better with the top down. ( the car too.)

Very good for a novice. I don't think I would even want to try one even with 27 years as a mattress builder.

Re: 65 Corsa by barrist
Yes, I used the instructions from Clarks. Many measurements that help.
I also viewed ALL the videos that I could find.
Good Luck, and Enjoy.
