my engine compartment project

Post by 66corsa57isetta »

this winter ive been tackling redoing my engine compartment on my 66 Corsa. the outside of the car was in pretty nice condition when i bought it last may but the engine copartment need a little attention to be "show worthy". i started by taking it all apart and sending all the engine sheetmetal peices out to powdercoat along with the wheels i recently purchased. then i got on Clarks website and ordered a whole bunch of parts. i got a new engine wiring harness, gas lines, rubber grommets, air cleaners, engine compartment stickers, copper ground straps, fuel pump and all the brass connectors, plug wires, tune up kit with points, rotor, point lead wire, and distrubuter cap, fanbelt, top cover gaskets, hood bumpers, and probably a few other things im forgeting. i also got a coil and spark plugs from napa to finish the tuneup. then i masked everything off and painted the engine compartment. just got the powdercoated parts back today so ill post up some pics of what ive done so far and ill try to keep updates going. im thinking its gonna look pretty cool when its all put back together :fingerscrossed: , heres a few of the pics ive taken so far... :chevy:

Whoa Michael ... that all came out pretty nice. Looks like a lot of work, but well worth it. Good job.

I LOVE the air cleaner treatments. Nice work.

i had them made by a local automotive graphics shop. i just took them one of my spare emblems and they duplicated it in vinyl. cost me a whole 20 bucks. well worth it in my opinion

Could you repro a few more, and sell them here? I'd be interested in a few for my LM.

Michael, nice treatments and I'd like them too, but then I'd have to go to the 4 - 1 bbl carbs again .... so maybe I'll think about it. gggg

Just PM me with an address to send money to once you find out if they will make more, might be a little cheaper now that the preliminary work is done.

thats what im thinking too. i might possibly be working at the shop that made them part time this summer to learn how to do pinstripping and airbrushing. the owner of the shop is good friends with my dad and has offered to teach me so i think im going to take him up on it. so i might be able to learn how to make these stickers too and maybe do some for the monza guys as well. well see where it goes. cant make any promises yet though. but im sure ill be able to at least get more corsa stickers made. ill be finding out tomorrow. :fingerscrossed:
