I noticed on your July 30th pics the engine jack. Is it just the engine on it? Did you make any modifications to it? I have a jack pretty much identical to yours and had to modify it to support the entire powertrain. See my post on 66 Restoration.

I'm pretty sure that is a RV (Motorcycle) lift being used. It would require very little, if any modification to be used to drop the complete power package. :my02:

Correct. It's a motorcycle jack. Works fine as is.

Engine crank back from machine shop. Needed a regrind. Now .010. Looks like new.

Engine cylinder piston assemblies cleaned up just fine. Honed and re-ringed.

Very nice!! It'll be exciting to fire it off, I'm sure! Be careful with the "balancing act", 'cuz I know how it goes if you're alone doing it!

I like those spark plug inserts, BTW......

:woo: Road Report. Car is back on the road. Wow! What a difference the rebuild has made.
Got everything going and took her on a 25 mile test drive. Everything looked good. So I filled the gas tank and hit the road to start breaking it in. Turned into a 300 mile day trip. What a blast! Drove her mostly on the highway with speeds ranging from 55 to 70 mph. Runs 3200 RPM in 4th gear and about 65 mph. Stopped at 150 miles, checked the oil, gave her a once over, filled the tank, topped off the oil and came back home.
Car is tracking and handling like an arrow. Engine is running strong with smooth power transition from 1100 to 4000 RPM. Averaged 20.4 mpg. No leaks.
Here’s a quick recap on what’s been done. Nothing in particular order…..
Front Suspension– Disassembled, cleaned and powder coated. All new bushings. New tires and shocks.
Rear Suspension - Disassembled, cleaned and powder coated. All new control arm bushings and bushings to body. New tires, new shocks.
Electrical – New main body and engine harness. Installed rotary electric fuel pump.
Misc - New shift rod boot, throttle rod grommets, sway arm bushings, strut rod bushings, windshield washer pump
Transaxel/transmission – New flywheel, new clutch, new TO bearing, new shaft seals, new mounts. Clean, inspect and put it back together.
Brakes – Replaced all wheel cylinders and brake hoses, parking brake spring, cable retainers. Everything else cleaned and put back back together.
Fuel Tank – New tank sender. Clean, inspect and put it back together.
Engine – Heads reconditioned with new valve guides, seats, stem seals, springs, spark plug inserts, seals. New mounts, main bearings, rod bearings, fan bearing, hone cylinders, piston rings, plugs, turbo gaskets/hoses, seals. Clean, paint and reassemble.
Overall well worth it! Car is about as good as it’s been since the 60’s. Mechanical preservation took about 4 months, $4K in parts/machine work/powder coating/sand blasting and all the little misc stuff.
I’m going to drive the car another couple of hundred miles over the next few weeks for a full break in. As soon as cold weather sets in it will be time to start working on the cosmetics.

Great preservation so far. Looks like it's all being done the right way. I am expecting to be doing similar to my 64 monza. Keep the updates coming
