Finally on it's way!

Post by krpound »

After a short delay to iron out a title issue, my 65 500 in Monza drag is on it's way from Iowa to Pennsylvania! :woo:

Thanks, folks! It should be here by Monday at the latest. My best guess is that it's a mid-70s GM green, although a friend swears its a 71 Chrysler color.

I remember a 72 chevelle that i saw at specialty sales in pleasanton CA in 1990 that was a completely original green on green car with only 14000 miles. Looks like that green to me.

Well, it showed up today. This could very well be one of those "that'll teach ya to buy something without looking at it" Ebay deals. Most of the right side is bondo, the paint looks like it was put on by Stevie Wonder, missing the defroster lever, which is OK since the blower doesn't work, needs 4 tires, and the fuel gauge is pegged at "F" and doesn't move when you turn the car on or off. It runs, but roughly. Once I run it through the shop, I may just decide to cut my losses and sell it.

You're the first guy I thought of when the truck pulled up! This one came from Iowa, originally supposed to have come from Arizona.

I know mart got a bad deal, but come on now. you got screwed, nobody to blame but yourself, not the state of pennsylvania. you internet purchase, you gamble. It's that simple.

The car was restored by a professional in Pennsylvania, The state of Pennsylvania gave my car a safety inspection sticker...... enough said I think :td: I for one will avoid anything to do with this state in the future....I learn real fast. I had been warned about the general quality of US workmanship regarding CARS but refused to believe it, yet the 3 cars I have bought and imported to UK ( Texas, NY and PA) were all badly repaired in some respect ( you just Dont do rivet repairs on A classic Studebaker or disconnect part of the braking system on a 450 hp Camaro!!!)...Dont even get me started on my pals 1956 low miles 'vette......perhaps tougher safety inspections are needed :dontknow: Perhaps some people are just dishonest, but dont go blaming the innocent buyer :nono: And now Kevin is going to run his car through the shop and pass the problem on to someone else , hopefully informing the prospective buyer of its faults

The state of PA did not give your car an inspection sticker, the crooked mechanic did.

Things aren't like they are over there. It realy is buyer beware, unless you can find someone trust worthy enough.

You mean to say that there is no legislation covering state inspection stickers and basically anyone can issue them?. You would face a term in prison in UK for issuing a MOT certificate on a dangerous vehicle, I should know, I was a vehicle inspector and we were constantly in fear of making mistakes. Defend PA all you want, buy your cars from PA if you want, just dont expect me to go anywhere near another one from there, I rely on good will and honesty as I have to buy sight unseen, and it seems in short supply unfortunately :nono:

Yes post pics and we can talk it through and see what your expectations are long term and if it makes sense to invest some time and $.
