My new Cave Car

Post by Mountain Pilot »

Lost all control tonight and bid on a '60 Cave Car sedan, now that I got it I have to get it from Lost Wages Nevada to Colorado. :sad5:

Guess I will find a friendly trucking company...

It looks good and hopefully rust free, don't know much other than the photos, seller didn't answer his phone this week. So when I get it here I will know a lot more... :dontknow:

VIN is 0769K101886 so it is an early Kansas City Build, automatic, radio and gas fired heater... Nice for Colorado... Probably did not get much use in L.V. Nevada

A few photos....

Pretty much like the first '60 that I had except my first one was a 3 spd. and a 500 series....

Wow! That's pretty darn cool! Hard to believe you can still find a '60 in that kind of shape. That paint quality back then sure looks superior to what I see nowadays.

When I first saw the photos I could not believe that the paint was in such good condition. Hopefully it is not a repaint. I have not been able to reach the Seller, he may be out of town ( or died when he saw what he got for it ).

Also I do not have other information such as indicated mileage or build tag, should be from 1st week of production in KC Plant.

Will find out soon.... :fingerscrossed:

I am arranging truck shipment and maybe it will be here next week... Hopefully

Engine needs work, the father said it smokes but runs, they drove it around a little when they first got it... He also said they could not find any rust on it but never pulled the rubber carpet up to look there. It has been in Las Vegas area it's whole life.. Wonder how it will like Colorado cold???? :dontknow:

Will post additional Photos after I get it in, both the good, Bad and Ugly

The Cave Sedan was picked up this afternoon (Monday- 20th) in Las Vegas and will be delivered on the 22nd... Just two days late on pickup but no guarantees were given as to date, 5 days from pickup order to actual pickup, I cannot complain.
I am thrilled it's on it's way.

Delivery costs worked out at $.82 per mile and delivered to my house. I am way off the main route truckers take. If I met them on the interstate near Albuquerque the cost would have been closer to $.60 mile. But I would have to drive 160 miles to save the difference. Will let then come to me. :tu: I figured my direct costs to go 670 miles one way to pick it up would have been close to $450 and a minimum of two days, probably three away from work. The charges were $550, so it cost me actually $100 more saved me the three days off work, and kept me away from the game tables in Vegas which probably would have cost me a lot more. :nono:
