The "Red Rocket" My 65 Corsa
Just thought I would make a posting of my newest addition to the family. It is the nicest classic car I have ever just bought outright. No work to date on it except for cleaning of course.
It is a 180HP turbo charged car with the rear antenna. Orginially a "Evening Orchid" car, it was restored maybe 96 from what I can tell.
I get alot of compliments wherever I go and as usual it is a great conversation starter.
Found out today after giving another couple a ride in it, it maybe too low. I was hitting ground all over the place
But all in all a fun car.

It was SO low, I couldn't get a jack under it to have a look at the undercarriage when I took pics to put in the newsletter a few months back, glad a Corvair guy got it. :)

Re: The "Red Rocket" My 65 Corsa
thanks you guys. I do love driving it. To a fault really, yesterday it was 95 outside and we drove to a restaurant we love about twenty miles away. It was closed so we drove about another thirty miles to our second choice. The temperature stayed at 400 the whole way and I babied it to keep the pinging away. but it did great.

Well I fixed the speedo today. It is awful bouncy. Do you have to lubricate brand new cables too? I bought the complete cable.
Next I am going to get the courtesy lights working. PO did some cutting of wires. We will see.

Hi Crazy. Do you know how many coils were cut from the front coils to get it to sit that low ?

No I don't know. I could count them if you are interested. You would have to tell how many the orginals had because this is my first late model and I didn't do the work.

Do you guys have any ideas about my speedo? I replaced the cable but it is bouncy and the odometer and trip odometer still don't work.

Re: The "Red Rocket" My 65 Corsa
Sometimes the cable being a bit to long will cause the bounce cuz it is in a bind. Just take it out and carefully grind a 1/16 or so off the trans end and see what happens.
Good luck, beautiful car.

First thanks for the input BajaBill, I will try that fix.
Second thanks Oldguiy1187, I think I would like to get the courtsey lights working, it adds a nice touch when you open the doors.
