Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
I just found this and scanned through about four years of work.
I'M IMPRESSED!
It's unusual to see the commitment needed to do a car completely, top to bottom, inside and out.
Great workmanship.

Its funny - when I saw this post, I noticed the heads were backwards, and I laughed. A few weeks later I went to finish putting my motor together, and I did the same exact thing....Love how your wagon is coming along!

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
BIG PROGRESS and I'M REALLY HAPPY WITH THE RESULT
but 1st, painted the small trunk parts that Lotte Cleaned When those were drying we start on the vibration and noise killing isolation (got some help with the paint later this post, Thanks Hugo )
Test how it works, how it sticks, and how to cut it, works really nice and you already hear the different. Did a test, next week were going to do the "whole car" You know the trunk, it was grey painted, but the "original looks" is a splatter paint.
After 1 layer of black After 1 layers of black splatters 2 layers of white splatters
Close-up of the splatters I like the result, more progress soon, hope i can keep this speed

Great job o the restoration I really enjoy watching your car come together. Where did you get the sound deadening material from? has it started to peel or fall from roof yet? Keep us posted and happy building.
Happy Building all!

Thank you
The brand is Silent Coat, made in the UK
http://www.silentcoat.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Ordered in the netherlands, maybe it is for sale in the USA aswell.
It sticks perfect, you can correct of you aplied it wrong, but after a couple of minutes and when you stick one next to another one you the 2 "meld" together in a nice way.
For now good product, hopefully it will be in the future aswell.

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
I finished the isolation floor part. that was a tricky part because of all the roundings / levels / holes. spend some time on it.
We did the inside of the doors aswell, what a different in sound.
And yes we put the doors on the body again, and the bonnet aswell, only the rear door needs to be inplace. Almost done for the body shop. Looks like a corvair car again
Thats for now, next time only small things to do.

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
Cleaned a lot of small parts, but the major part was the tailgate, thats back on the body.
Clean, paint and screw back
Now i need to figure out how the springs where attached / placed to keep the tailgate open.
If someone have a picture of the position of the springs, that would be very helpfull.
For the comming days, only small things, nothing special i think.
Thank you! and stay tuned

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
Got some pictures from Teresa & John, and we figured out pretty quick how the rear torsion springs are installed
And there in, and it works, time to paint the torsion springs Rear door fits perfect!
Last torsion springs are in, ready for the road Thats what i said, ready for the road! Arrived after 1 houre driving to the body and paint shop Lakewood will be there the whole winter, getting it back probably in februari, cant wait to see the result
Corvair "gone" still loads of things to do overhere, engine work, interior work. And 99% sure moving to a other home, a rela home, not a appartment with a bigger (still small comparing to usa standards) Corvair Room
when i got news i let you all know

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
Cleaned the locks with a ultra sonic bath and some hand cleaning. ready to deliver to the body shop!
Above locks after ultra sonic bath. Under after some cleaning by hand. All done! There will be some small updates comming up, but most of my time goes into the new house, a lot of paper work, and when we have the keys just before christmas therse's some painting to do and moving everything. Yes also a new workshop, instead of 2 little workshops, 1 less little workshop hahaha
Stay tuned!
