Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
Did some more cleaning, and old paint and rust removing, and paint the new parts back in black,
and i got my fuel sender unit, looks nice, and fits, now i need a lot of otherparts to put it all back together, a lot of parts already in the usa, and i take it home when i'm on holiday in the usa,
After my vacation in july (usa roadtrip and corvair convention) i can put it all back together, and it wil look like a lakewood again (for some parts hahaha)
Old VS cleaning - sandblasting
New Paint:
Hope to see some of you in Kalamazoo

I think that you have a better-looking parts collection than Clark's Corvair Parts! I'm really looking forward to when you "stir the pot" and "bake" a brand-new Lakewood! That will really be something to see!!

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
May be... but you still are posting pictures of a lot of hand-cleaned, painted, and restored used components that often look better than new. I would hate to see your shipping and postage bill totals. It may add up to more than the original dealer MSRP for a brand new Lakewood!TikiRalf wrote:hahaha but the ingredients will be from clarks or rafee and other corvair parts supplyers from all over the world
So set up the rotisserie, stir the parts pot, and bake a 2013 Corvair II Lakewood Station Wagon NG (New Generation) Euro Edition!

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
I would hate to see your shipping and postage bill totals. ME TO hahahaha
It is like 100 dollars = 100 euro + the 50% (tax - import tax - shipping) = the total price for a part to arrived at my door, so for every 100 dollar parts = 150 euro = 195.12 US Dollars
Thats a quick calculation, but most of the times its in a range of 10 bucks more or less
*so be glad you live in the usa hahahaha,
But it is a hobby, and hobby cost money, and eveytime i get a package home, it looks like christmas
So we try to fix / clean most of the parts, but for the technical parts, it will be new.

I thought that was the best wagon before you started this. I can not imagine how it will look when finished. Wow!

I just finished restoring my 61 Lakewood. I could have learned a few things the easy way by watching your step by step restoration. Great job!

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
some last body work - tiny holes filled up - little plates of sheet metal, one more time welding like this and the body is completely done :-)
Prepared everything for the front suspension, clean out the powdercoat in the holes to fit the nuts and bolts - build up the front brakes - and waiting now for the last nuts and bolts. when they are in, one evening and we have a front suspension
thats for now :) stay tuned
