Show and shine was WET wet wet... got to sit in the tavern around the corner with me sainted mum though, so it wasn't too bad. :tu: I wasn't the only Corvair there either... a 62 "500" 2 door PG was there, and participated in the cruise that was later that evening. I still have a bit of a "part-throttle" miss, but it idles better than it ever has, and when I open them up, zoom zoom zoom, even on only the primaries. I'm going to order some #52 and 53 jets and experiment a bit. Recommended by the guy who built the engine all those years ago. Pictures will follow tonight. :)
EDIT: Ok, 2 nights passed..here they are...

Looking good, before the rain came.

I was not the only Corvair entered today. Saw him in the cruise later that evening too.

Next goodie arrived in the mail today... a Corsa 140 balance tube. Icky and dirty, but I've sanded it and after 3 coats of silver paint it will look good enough to install in my engine bay. Thanks to Marco Padilla of Classics of LA for digging up the tube.

Looks like this is going to become my daily driver for a bit... my 94 Ford Escort is gulping down coolant somewhere, and it isn't coming out the bottom of the engine bay. Wish me no issues for the next couple of weeks while I drive my Corsa daily.

So far, so good on daily driving the Corsa... found the source of my coolant loss... finally soaked up enough to show through the carpet. It's the heater core. Only have to completely remove the dash to get to it. :assault: It will wait until after my vacation to get done. Darn, have to keep driving the Vair to work this week. I hear "You don't see too many of those around anymore" a lot, including this morning when I gave her a splash of premium gas to make it through the week.
I also met a fellow who picked up a virtually unmolested survivor, 69, 110/PG. Pics below. Other than a small crunch on passenger side cove area, a place in the pic you can see the paint rubbed off the trunk, and some moron scratched something unintelligible into the roof paint, it's sweet. See "stock vs lowered" the 69 is stock, my 65 is lowered.

More pics of his 69 and his model A are available at:

Plus all my car show pics, my new Corsa 140 balance tube so I can finally hook up the vacuum gauge in the dash, and other silliness.

After 3 weeks of daily driving to work, I have popped an oil leak. Probably the oil cooler seals, as that's what I touched last oil-wise. Got my Escort heater core replaced so now I can tear into the Corvair and do a few things before car show at the end of the month.

OIl leak located.. 1 oil pump bolt. Cleaned and re-inserted with some thread sealer, dry so far. We'll see what happens when I run her again.
While I was at it... I decided to re-paint all the engine tins, and I had some paint mixed up in the body color and a couple of rattle cans made from that, and painted the magnesium fan body color. I painted the tops of all the engine bolts and replaced the "bat" stud in my alternator, as I had partially stripped it out recently. I'm also replacing all exhaust donuts as I can smell a bit of exhaust inside, even with the heater off. Hope it's not entering from somewhere else.
Image
This is what the paint USED to look like a long time ago. Hopefully next spring the outside will be as bright as the fan is now.
Image
Almost back together. I painted the new balance tube and the top cover of the fuel pump silver. I debated painting the alternator, but I would have had to disassemble farther than I wanted to at this time, maybe later. The valve cover gaskets have a small amount of weeping, but nothing big enough to concern me. I cleaned up the bit of accumulated oil and dirt while I had the side tins off.
Image
A few of the many bolts I painted.
Looks like I'll be ready for the Corvair-Corvette car show on the 28th.
