Looks slick! Perfect color match.

Also looks smooth & slippery. You may need leather driving gloves to grip that small diameter manual steering wheels at low speeds. I've always had "Sport Grip" covers on my wheels for improved grip. The current one was on the car stored for 20+ years and is still in good shape. Am I dating myself? Do they even make those any more?

Image Get yourself a pair of leather driving gloves. You'll be tooling around in your classic Corvair looking like you just stepped off of a movie set!

Well it’s up on the lift. Now I just need time to remove the drivetrain and replace the diff and trans. New clutch etc.

Good times ahead! I actually love engine/diff/tranny work. Very straightforward. Patience, planning and parts required. Biggest problems are prior half-assed repairs or swaps by careless people.

Dropped the power pack tonight. Found the problem. Trans and diff were dry. Diff is toast.

Holy crap. Sorry to hear/see that. Tranny shot too?

Was there a seal leak? I hope someone didn't rebuild then forget to add fluid.

Yes shift shaft seal and the snout was broken a little so it was leaking out of it as well.
$4 part caused allot of $$$$ damage.

Some pics from the removal. Oh and the repaired/welded starter that was in it.
Good thing I had already bought a new high torque one from Clark’s.

That alternator and your new starter are nice upgrades to the original electrical system. Hope you sort out your transaxle issues as easily. 60's are always a bit different.

It had a ‘64 diff in it already. I’m putting in a ‘64 posi diff and ‘64 4 spd trans.

Progress has been slow.
I tried to fix up the rear tin as best as I could today.

Not sure if you still need it, but I pulled the tank out of storage and took some pics for you.
