Hey Zach. Congrats on the new Corsa. :chevy: Here is my favorite picture of my old Turbo 66 Corsa with factory Head-rests. Pic was taken in Annapolis Maryland. :guitar:

Thanks Goop for the pic. Mine does not have headrests... curious if that code is correct or not.

As a new question.

The Tach is stuck up at 5500 rpm... with the engine off. How do I diagnose and fix that?

Finally got her up on a lift today. :tu:

It has nylon bushings in the rear struts on the engine mount side  ... couldn't be sure if they were nylon on the wheel side..
very clean underneath and almost zero jack marks in the body weld line
Looks like a new or very clean gas tank
Lots of new bolts and other likewise hardware
Lots of new and newer looking rubber gromets, bushings, etc.
Brake shoes look brand new

List of pronto to-do:
1. New Brake cylinders all around... backs are showing signs they might be leaking :whoa:
2. New everything from pitman arm out to wheels.
3. Put new deep oil pan on w/deep oil pick-up
4. Transfer Extractors from 68 to 66 to see how it sounds... although I kind like these mufflers
5. Investigate changing to a dual chamber master cylinder (Has anyone does this already and have a thread in here?)
6. New speedo cable... cuz I know that the car goes faster than 35 :rolling:
7. Tach issue.... (sticks around 3500 and 5500)
8. Right Rear Brake Light Bulb... think it just simply burned out
9. Change to all 4 brake-light/running light/turn signal mode.
10. Fix floppy driver's side mirror... any ideas on this?
11. Begin recording detailed history of oil coming out on engine shrouding near dipstick tube and from crank case vent
12. Rebuild shift tube or transfer shift tube from '68
13. Add quick-shifter (from '68)
14. Perform compression and leak-down tests to see if any particular cylinder is contributing to oil
15. TAKE SOME PICTURES AND VIDS during the freaking day time!

couple things:
the rear has brand new nylon bushings only on the engine side. the wheels side has brand new RUBBER bushings. i did this because ive driven a corvair with all nylon bushings and i thought it made it ride rougher. i put nylon bushings on the engine side because those bushings are exposed to alot more heat and possible oil leaks. the nylon will hold up to the heat and wear coming from the engine better than the rubber, or at least thats what ive been told.

i had an issue with the tail lights a few times too, try messing with the ground straps around the light housing first. thats what the issue was for me, it has a new harness in the engine compartment so it shouldnt be a wiring issue

i rebuilt the shift tube when i bought the car. it has a new coupler and pin, new bushings, new shift stabilizer rod w/ all new bushings and hardware, and new gaskets where the tube bolts to the floor. so you may probably dont need to rebuild it unless you want to.

Hey Mike.

thanks for the additional history. I saw the new hardware on the shift tube after I posted.. doh! I still want to put the quick shifter in :) Makes my '68 shift nice and tight!

The light was working fine but I think a bulb burned out cuz the left bank is all lit up and right just kind of faded and died. I do want to change it to the 4 brake light setup though :) Did you ever have reverse lights?

Sweet they are rubber huh.. I've been told the same thing on putting nylon on the engine side and rubber on the wheel side as being the best of both worlds.

yeah i agree about the quick shift. that was something i always wanted to do to it too. i have to be honest i never really checked to see if the reverse lights worked lol. i would still check the grounds around the light that isnt working frst because i had similar issues with it. those bulbs arent that old but it could possiby just have burned out also

Alright so I'm starting to plan my mechanic day...

Any hints on rebuilding and replacing everything but the drag link and the arm from the steering box.. between the front wheels.
