I really like where the engine sits. The thing that has always turned me off on the crown/kelmark was how close the engine was to the front seats. It looks like yours will only be as far forward as the front of the rear seat bottom! I am watching your thread closely, this looks like what my next project might be, if all goes well with yours.

Well today I went down to the metal shop but it was closed. So I have to wait till Monday to get more steel. Bummer!

After much consideration and forethought I decided to change up a bit my front motor mount. I fiqure 500 hp would crack my weld on a hard launch. So I decided to build a front crossmember with rubber mount to soften the force and vibrations. Back to the drawing board.

In the mean time I did some aluminum work to find a way to hide the engine. Still need to make some cuts and adjustments.

I think I'm going with something like this but I'm not going to hack up my floor board.

I've been a little busy with my college work. So I decided to take an hour or so and make the new engine crossmember. I still have to do the oil pan clearance. I have to also keep in mind the cable to the original emergency brake which I want to keep.

Question, Have you thought about putting a rubber/polyurethane bushing in the mount so that you don't get the engine vibrations into the chassis?

The engine has the polyurethane/rubber motor mount on it. The crossmember bolts up to that. I will take a photo of that.

finished installing it and I am pretty happy with the results. I did not think It was going to come out this good. No expert but for a newbie welder with 30 minutes of youtube video instruction not bad......lol.

Okay o decided to put in the roll cage and some aluminum work and an old seat I have to see the clearances and how much can I move the seat back. I'm 6 foot two so I'm tall I need the leg room. But it was perfect I even had to move the seat forward to work the pedals.

I know some folks are looking at engine placement. I just don't like the engines with crown or kelmark conversion being so far forward. I'm scared if the engine decided to loose a rod I won't be wearing it as a unicorn.

The engine may have to move forward or back but it won't be by much. I have to line up the drive shaft. I'm hoping it will go back.
