That Sprint must have been quite a dog, only 18.4 in a 1/4 mile. I had an 18.2 in my 62 102 HP without a posi rear end.

Agreed.

Going to get the suspension sorted out and will run the thing till it forces a rebuild. But yea, a 3.3l at rebuild time sounds right. Adds about 50 ft lbs just where its needed on a street car; low rpm grunt.

If there was an aftermarket rear bar in '64/5 it may not have worked with the transverse rear spring. But adding HD rear springs and removing the front say bar seems like a fairly extreme way to pull out some of the factory understeer and make the car more 'sporty'.

My '64 969 with over 115K will not be setting any acceleration records either.

I went to electric fuel pump , but considering going back to original . Electric pump is quite noisy when idling , such as stopped for a light . Moving at 45 plus mph it is not so noticeable

The electric fuel pump I selected for my Corvair was a marine type (Airtex E8251 Universal Solid State Electric Fuel Pump for Marine Applications). It is recommend for installation close to the engine, does an excellent job of pulling the fuel all the way from the tank to the engine compartment area, and provides good fuel volume (Operates at 2.5 to 4.5 P.S.I., delivers 30 G.P.H. at free flow). It is also very quiet in operation.
